Happy Easter celebration! May the Easter bring us Happy Easter celebration!
May the Easter bring us joy, peace and all good tidings. Have a wonderful celebration.
Women wants and deserves an equal future free from Women wants and deserves an equal future free from stigma, stereotypes and violence; a future that’s sustainable, peaceful, with equal rights and opportunities for all. To get us there, the world needs women at every table where decisions are being made.

Today,  we're celebrating the tremendous efforts by women and girls around the world. When women lead, we see positive results.

Remember, women are still underrepresented in public life and decision-making, as revealed in the UN Secretary-General’s recent report. Women are Heads of State or Government in 22 countries, and only 24.9 per cent of national parliamentarians are women. At the current rate of progress, gender equality among Heads of Government will take another 130 years.

This should not be so, women should be given equal opportunities as men, especially in leadership, as Women’s full and effective participation in leadership of all areas of life will drive progress for everyone.

The world needs science, and science needs women.

Thursday is Women In Science Day, an opportunity to commit to ending the stereotypes, gender bias and discrimination that hold women and girls back from careers in Science, Tech, Engineering and Math.

Over the last year, #COVID19 has clearly demonstrated the critical role of women scientists in different stages of the pandemic; from advancing research, to developing testing techniques, and finally, to the creation of a vaccine against the virus.

We can all do our part to draw attention to the systematic barriers and long-standing biases that continue to prevent girls from becoming #WomenInScience.

#GlobalGoals
Currently, less than 30% of researchers in the wor Currently, less than 30% of researchers in the world are women. According to UNESCO data (2014/2016), only 30% of all female students globally selects STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) related courses in higher education institutions.

Globally, female enrollment is particularly low in ICT (3%), natural science, mathematics and statistics (5%) and in engineering, manufacturing and construction (8%).

Long standing biases and gender stereotypes are steering women and girls away from science related fields. families can help curb this problem by encouraging their girls to pursue or take on science related courses both in high school and college.

Administrators and education Institutions should also create favorable conditions and environment that encourages women and girls to take on science related courses, especially in higher Institution of learning to Increase the chances of girls and women pursuing a science related career.

Opening new doors to girls and women in science requires a range of shifts in both mindset and in some cases, culture. Today and always, let's show support to women and girls in the science.

Since FGM is most carried out on minors, It is also a violation of the rights of children.

Nowhere in the world do women have as many opportu Nowhere in the world do women have as many opportunities as men, and this starts with girls and their access to education.

In the poorest countries, girls are less likely to go to school, are less likely to have the same opportunities for work, and are less likely to have a say in the direction of their own lives than their brothers.

The main way to fight such unacceptable inequalities is to educate more girls. Education is one of the most powerful weapons in the fight against extreme poverty.

Evidence shows that countries that educate their girls are wealthier, healthier, more stable.

Universal access to quality education is one of the best antidotes to poverty. We cannot end extreme poverty without prioritising education, especially for girls.

The enrollment of girls into educational instituti The enrollment of girls into educational institutions have seen a remarkable improvement over the years. However, the drop out rate of girls from school is still higher than that of boys.

Also, participation of girls in STEM (Science & technology, Engineering and Mathematics) classes is still low. STEM subjects, historically, have been very male-dominated, with young girls often discouraged from pursuing such a technical career path.

While 12% of women in bachelor programs will graduate with a STEM degree each year, only 3% go on to work in the STEM field.

To preserve the future, women and girls must be given equal educational privileges with their male counterpart, and also encouraged to take on STEM courses.
